Cat portrait from your photo in about 30 seconds: upload one clear picture of your cat, choose Royal, Renaissance, Watercolor or Oil Painting, and the AI paints your cat with its own stripes, patches and eye color. The first preview is free and needs no sign-up.
How to make a portrait of your cat
- 1
Catch one good photo
It does not need to be posed. A sharp shot of your cat on the sofa works, as long as both eyes and the whole face are visible.
- 2
Pick a style for the mood
Renaissance Duchess for the queen of the house, Watercolor for a sleepy lap cat, Oil Painting for a classic look. Add the name for a gold plate.
- 3

Why cat people like it
Coat patterns stay put
The M on a tabby forehead, a tuxedo bib, calico patches, the dark points on a Siamese. Each one is copied from your photo.
Eyes that match
Green, copper, blue or one of each. Eye color is the first thing cat owners check, so we tell the AI to keep it exact.
One photo is enough
Cats rarely give you a second chance. The tool needs a single clear shot, not a photo session.
Royal costumes for cats
Duchess, Queen and Princess look right on cats, with pearls, lace ruffs and feathered hats that sit naturally on small heads.
All your cats in one frame
Upload up to four cat photos for one group portrait. Each cat keeps its own markings.
Free frame preview
See your cat portrait in a gold, black or white frame before you print it. No extra cost.
What makes a cat portrait look like your cat
Cats are harder to paint than dogs. Their faces are flatter, their expressions are subtler, and many breeds look alike at first glance. What sets your cat apart is usually the pattern and the eyes: how wide the stripes run across the cheeks, whether the white on the chin is a dot or a full beard, the exact shade of green.
Our AI is told to treat those as fixed and change only the setting. A grey tabby stays a grey tabby with the same stripes, now wearing a lace ruff. If you are curious how we test this, the methodology page explains it.
Cat portraits from photos when your cat hates the camera
Most cats look away the second a phone comes out. You do not need a perfect pose, just a clear face. Try this:
- Wait for sunbathing time. A sleepy cat by a window holds still and the light is soft.
- Get down to their eye level. Shooting from above makes the head look small and the eyes dark.
- Rustle a treat bag or a crinkly toy just above the lens for a few seconds of eye contact.
- Turn off the flash. It turns cat eyes into glowing discs that the AI will copy.
- For black cats, use bright indirect daylight and tap the face on your screen to set exposure. Otherwise the fur and the shadows merge.
- Whiskers out of frame are fine. Ears cut off are not, so leave space above the head.
Personalized cat portrait styles to try
The Renaissance style with a Duchess costume is the favorite for cats, and it is what the tool starts with on this page. A white Persian looks natural as a Queen in pearls. A tuxedo cat already wears formal dress, so a simple Royal crown works. For quieter cats, Watercolor gives a soft look on white paper, and Line Art makes a clean drawing that people often use for tattoos.
Want something classic with visible brushwork? The cat painting page is all about oil and renaissance painting looks. For a playful version, try a wizard or astronaut on funny pet portraits.
How much do custom cat portraits cost?
A hand-painted cat portrait from an artist usually starts around $100 and takes a few weeks. Shops that sell designer-made digital portraits charge about $15 to $40 per file, more for canvas.
Here the first portrait on each device is free. After that one cat costs 40 credits and a group of two to four cats costs 60. Credit packs start at $5.99 and never expire, and there is no subscription. See pricing for the full list.
Cats, dogs and everyone else
If your cat shares the house with a dog, you can put them together in one portrait using Multiple Pets mode, or add yourself with pet and owner portraits. Dog owners can find breed and photo tips on the dog portraits page.
